Use It Up, Wear It Out, Make It Do, or Do Without

When Wade and I were newly married, and he started his teaching career, we knew we wouldn’t have much money. But that was okay because teaching was what Wade had always wanted to do. We were happy. So, we took to heart the counsel of President Brigham Young. He said ” Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.”

It was very wise counsel, because it has gotten us through some very tough times. Through several years of unemployment, really struggling to make it, our decision to follow the Prophet really blessed us. By not buying new things, sticking with what we had and not getting into debt, it made things MUCH easier than they would have been had we not already been in the mode of using what we had or going without.

So I wanted to share with you these words that we have lived by, and continue to. Maybe it will encourage you to know that you can make it, too!
